Would You Rather with Linda Goodnight

Please welcome Linda Goodnight, author of The Memory House.

New York Times and USA Today bestseller, Linda Goodnight, writes novels to touch the heart as well as to entertain. Her stories of hope have won the RITA , the Carol, the Reviewer’s Choice, and numerous other industry awards.

A small town girl, Linda remains close to her roots, making her home in rural Oklahoma. She and husband have a blended family of eight, including two teenagers recently adopted from Ukraine. Many of her books are about family and children and rightly so, as she draws her emotional stories from her surroundings, her great love of family, and from personal experiences as a nurse and teacher.

Would You Rather with Linda Goodnight

Chips, chocolate or cheese?

Chocolate, card-carrying. But I like cheese a lot too.

Bridget Jones, Becky Bloomwood or Carrie Bradshaw?

This sounds pathetic, but I’ve only heard of one of those, and I wasn’t a fan.

Wine, beer or vodka?

A glass of wine occasionally is nice.

Camping or spa vacation?

Are you offering to take me? Let’s do the spa!

Water or mountains?

Mountains, but preferably in the summer. I have very fair skin and sunburn easily so beaches, however wonderful and beautiful, can be painful for me.

Zombies or vampires?

I’ll take vampires. (Truthfully, I was in Jacob’s camp. Werewolves unite!)

Dogs or cats?

Dogs, but don’t tell my kitty.

Coke or Pepsi?

I don’t drink any kind of pop, but I buy Coke for Mr. G.

Coffee or tea?

Tea. Lots and lots of tea. Hot, cold. Sweet, unsweet. Just give me tea.

Dine out or take away?

Dine out. Who wants to do dishes!

High heels, sneakers or flip flops?

Flip-flops

Physical Book or ebook?

Physical Book. I do read ebooks some since I have two devices, but there is something magical about a physical book.  I tend to savor them, whereas an ebook is a quick skim.

Paperback or Hardcover?

Paperback. It’s got to fit in the purse!

Pen or pencil?

Pencil. I love dark, soft mechanical pencils, especially for editing my manuscripts.

Mad Men, Downton Abbey or Breaking Bad?

Downton Abbey

Drama or comedy?

Comedy. I enjoy good dramas but a romantic comedy, aka chick flick, is my favorite. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched Sweet Home Alabama and Miss Congeniality. Can I get a witness?

Twilight or Hunger Games?

Twilight

Lipstick, lipgloss or chapstick?

Chapstick, the really creamy, soft kind that makes your lips feel smooth and moist, not waxy.

Facebook or Twiter?

Facebook. I use Twitter but I still don’t understand it.

Plot your entire novel or fly by the seat of your pants?

Out of self-preservation I do a bit of generalized plotting, but mostly I’m a seat of the pants writer.

The Memory House

Welcome to the Peach Orchard Inn in Honey Ridge, Tennessee, a house that's rich in history, secrets and sweet possibilities…
Memories of motherhood and marriage are fresh for Julia Presley—though tragedy took away both years ago. Finding comfort in the routine of running the Peach Orchard Inn, she lets the historic, mysterious place fill the voids of love and family. No more pleasure of a man's gentle kiss. No more joy in hearing a child call her Mommy. Life is calm, unchanging…until a stranger with a young boy and soul-deep secrets shows up in her Tennessee town and disrupts the loneliness of her world.
Julia suspects there's more to Eli Donovan's past than his motherless son, Alex. There's a reason he's chasing redemption and bent on earning it with a new beginning in Honey Ridge. Offering the guarded man work renovating the inn, she glimpses someone who—like her—has a heart in need of restoration.

But with the chance discovery of a dusty stack of love letters buried within the lining of an old trunk, the long-dead ghosts of a Civil War romance envelop Julia and Eli, connecting them to the inn's violent history and challenging them both to risk facing yesterday's darkness for a future bright with hope and healing.

    1. Hi Terri, thank you, and thank you for dropping by. This was probably the most fun interview I've done. I guess we all like to be asked our opinions. :) Disclaimer, I haven't actually read or seen Hunger Games so I don't know if I'd like it or not. My girls love it.

  2. Chocolate all the way. And I have no idea who Becky Bloomwood and Carrie Bradshaw are, so you're not alone.
