Happy belated New Year’s everyone! I apologize for the delay in reviews over the last month. With my being away, then a busy holiday season and then the flu (or whatever that crazy thing was – rather is, because I still have the cough –ugh), I just haven’t had the time to update our website. But we’re here now and have posted four great books (well, maybe not the Marian Keyes sadly) and have planned our upcoming reading list from the popular to the more obscure chick lit we’ve found. Please take the time to check out the authors you don’t recognize - we know you love Sophie Kinsella, Jennifer Weiner and Marian Keyes – but there are new and fabulous authors out there, so check out our reviews to see who makes the cut!

You may have noticed our new review format. I made an executive decision to change it up and remove the synopsis of the book because Kathryn always seems to include one in her reviews and it didn’t make sense for me to write a separate one and delete her hard work. So, that said, Kathryn’s review will include a synopsis and mine will stay as usual. We both remain committed to leaving out details of the plot or giving anything away, so if you’re looking for more info on a book, I suggest checking out the link on the review to Amazon which will give you more details, although the personal reviews often give away the ending so beware (I was never more annoyed when I read the ending of My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult there and I probably won’t read the book now because of it). Unfortunately I have not gotten around to changing all the previous reviews to this new format, so bear with me while I make those changes!

We are considering taking on a new reviewer (or two) to speed up our reviews. We realize that both of us reading each book is cumbersome and slows us down, but still think it gives a more varied opinion and plan to stick with this. So even if we add another reviewer, there will always be two reviews posted so you’ll have that second opinion. We’ll let you know about these changes as they take place.

The Novel Forward program will continue, but we are considering making some changes. One we’re implementing immediately is removing the option to include your name, city and star rating at the end of each review page because no one has seemed to be inclined to do so as of yet. We will keep you updated if we change anything else.

We're finally launching our Novel Forward program which we've been working on for a while but have finally put into words and onto the website. Check out the link to the left for details on how you can win a copy of the books we review to read for free!


We're getting ready to settle into the winter season (which we both loathe, but accept as part of the Canadian living) and are still aiming to read and review at least one book per week. We would like to try for two, but we both have other projects on the go, with me taking a creative writing class and Kathryn cooking her own baby food, we're both pretty preoccupied. But we will attempt to find some more time to read and write our reviews so we can find you great books to read!

Kathryn returned home a couple of weeks ago and we're now playing catch up with each other's books. She (somehow) managed to read 4 books while away and is now trying to read the ones I read and I the ones she read, along with throwing in some others in there too. Hopefully we'll have this done in the next few weeks, but I imagine we'll have at least a couple of new reviews up each week now.

We're looking at starting a new program here that would involve some free books for our readers so stay tuned for details coming, likely in September! Keep checking back, or sign up for our blog where we'll also post the details.

Welcome to our newly designed website everyone! Well, ìt`s not completely new, just a new look for the most part. We hope you enjoy it as we`re quite pleased with how it looks. If anyone happens to notice anything unusual (links not working, star ratings not matching) please send us an email and let us know so we can make the necessary changes.

The only other update we have is that our Novel Forward program is undergoing a slight change. Going forward, not every book will be available for the draw because we are getting loaners and even some from the library and won`t be able to send those to you! The Novel Forward information will be available on the upper right corner of the review page and will state if that book is available or not.

Other than that we`ll keep on reading and writing reviews and I will be more diligent at updating the website with them as soon as they`re written. I promise!

Well, we're finally into spring now and can't wait for the summer reading season ahead and have some changes to let you know about. We want to get our reviews to you as soon as possible, so we're going change how we post them. To continue providing both reviews because we differ so frequently in our opinion and get them out to you as quickly as possible, we decided that once Lydia has read the book, her review will be posted and Kathryn's will be posted later once she finishes it. This will cause some delay in the Novel Forward draws, but those books available will continue to be posted on the Novel Forward page.
