Sue Watson Stranded on a Desert Island

Please welcome Sue Watson, author of Love, Lies and Lemon Cake, Fat Girls and Fairy Cakes, and Younger Thinner Blonder.

About Sue:

Sue Watson was a TV Producer with the BBC who combined motherhood and family life with a busy career. However, one day it dawned on Sue that Cosmo magazine may have been telling porkies about 'having it all,' and her life had become a slightly crazed juggling act.

So after much soul searching (and comfort eating) Sue abandoned her TV career, bought a pink laptop and wrote a novel. Fat Girls and Fairy Cakes, became a Kindle bestseller.
Originally from Manchester, Sue now lives with her husband and teenage daughter in Worcestershire. When she's not toiling over her latest novel, Sue can be found enjoying large bags of chicken crisps, huge tubs of Caramel Chew Chew ice cream while watching 'The Biggest Loser USA'

Sue Watson Stranded on a Desert Island

If you could only have one book with you, what would it be?

Jen Lancaster’s ‘Such a Pretty Fat’. She makes me laugh out loud, takes nothing seriously and when I’m alone at night on that island I will want a laugh.

What one luxury item would you want to be stranded with?

A beautiful silk sarong. I know I’d be alone, but I always like to cover up stylishly on the beach.

What is the one practical item you would want to have with you to use?

A laptop with endless power so I could write a novel about my adventures while I’m there and sell it to the highest bidder after my dramatic air/sea rescue.

Would you enjoy the solitude, even briefly, or would it drive you crazy?

I am a wife and mother. I constantly work with other people’s meals, angst, laundry and homework. I have no problem with solitude... bring it on!

If you could be stranded with one other person, who would you want it to be?

Ryan Gosling. Not only would he be delicious to look at but he’d be kind and funny and intelligent and sensitive and as I’d be the only woman there he’d have to pay me some attention.

What modern technology would you miss the most?

My espresso maker. Then again, I won’t need caffeine, I’ll be lying on that beach all day.

What food or beverage would you miss the most?

Cake – obviously. In desperation I may try to improvise but I doubt even I could whip up a Victoria sponge with a few yams and a coconut.

How many days do you think you would cope without rescue?

Depends. If Ryan Gosling is there with me I don’t ever want to be rescued so please call off the search. If I’m alone, a month would work for me... I could lose a few pounds, write a novel and get some sunshine and me time.

What is the first thing you would do when rescued?

Eat fish and chips and hug my family – in that order.

What would be your first Tweet or Facebook update upon your return?

@suewatsonwriter would like 2 announce her engagement and forthcoming marriage 2 @RyanGosling #SoulMates

Love, Lies and Lemon Cake

Faye Dobson has lost her sparkle.

Living on film star fantasies and vague memories of a marriage that once was, she can’t help feeling that life is passing her by. She dreams of being whisked to Paris for dinner, making three wishes at the Trevi fountain and having sex under the stars. But the wrinkles are multiplying, her husband’s passion is for plumbing, and the nearest she’ll get to Rome is a take-away pizza.

So when Faye meets Dan the gorgeous Australian surfer guy working in the local deli she can’t help but wonder what it would be like to see the world. He is blonde, tanned, ten years younger and bakes the most amazing lemon cake. Unlike her husband Dan actually listens to Faye, his smile makes her feel fizzy inside, and when he smiles... Oh. My. God.

But is Faye being silly? What would Dan see in someone like her? Even if he did have feelings for her, could she give everything up to be with him?
A laugh-out-loud funny, bittersweet romantic comedy about taking your life back before it’s too late.

Never let go of your dreams. Or your cake.
